Plastic Tube Packaging - Products and Manufacturing

Plastic tube packaging is typically a four step process:
  • Extrusion
  • Heading
  • Decorating
  • Capping
Plastubes’ tube packaging lines and design equipment are dedicated to three principal products:
  • Monolayer
  • Coextrusion
  • Polyfoil®.

Our monolayer extruded plastic tube packaging is available in 16 to 49 mm diameters with high, medium or low density polyethylene plastic. When barrier properties are not essential, polyethylene plastic tubes would be the plastic tube packaging choice for your product. If you need custom tubes with added barrier properties consider a coextrusion laminated plastic tube with a pearlized finish or the feel of soft touch, available in 30, 35, 39 and 49 mm diameters. This tube is coextruded, with an Ethylene Vinyl Alcohol [EVOH] layer, known as a coex barrier layer. It is a colourless, transparent, oxygen obstructing plastic barrier with high mechanical strength. When you are looking for the best possible barrier properties and the highest visual impact in laminate custom tubes, we recommend our patented Polyfoil® tubes, in diameters 16 to 49 mm. The tubes are formed as a polyethylene –aluminum – polyethylene laminate, with a seamless poly outer layer that allows the complete circumference of the tube to be decorated. The poly layer can be coloured, opaque, translucent or clear to see through to the thin gage aluminum.

Plastic tube packaging

On the exterior, the plastic tube packaging appears laminated but it has a plastic layer inside that pulls it back into shape. The metallic, seamless custom tube resists deformation and provides an ideal package for sensitive pharmaceutical and personal care products. Our Polyfoil® custom tubes have the look and properties of aluminum with the memory, feel and decorating possibilities of plastic.

Plastube offers its customers a full size range of tubes with a very wide choice in head styles and treads. The machines used for tube making have been designed to minimize the cost and time required to retool for unique head styles, thus offering the customer more flexibility in the package design for new products.

In the plastic tube packaging process, once the tube has been headed it is ready for decorating and then capping. It is in the finishing touches and details of decorating that we stand alone. For more information about our plastic tube packaging, please contact us.
